Stakeholders Group

Next Stakeholders`Group Meeting is September 15th
RURAL WEEKS May 25-29 and June 1-5
As we have been doing for close to 20 years now, we welcomed 1st year medical students: two students from the University of Manitoba and two students studying in French at the University of Ottawa. U of M students stayed at Norm and Marie Vigier`s in St. Malo and U of Ottawa students stayed with family in Winnipeg. Our goal is to give them a taste of our communities i.e. Otterburne, St. Malo and St-Pierre-Jolys. The RM of Ritchot will be included in the future as it is now part of our organization. Once the students have completed their day at the De Salaberry District Health Centre (DDHC), we provide opportunities for the students to mingle with community members. This year we gathered for meals at Banh Mi King and Lucky Luc`s, and paint nights at Arlene`s Art Studio. Joining us: Village of St-Pierre-Jolys councillor, community members, Immigration Counselor, Public Health Nurse and DDHC Manager. St Malo residents provided activities at the St Malo Lake/Provincial Park and U of Ottawa students spoke to the high school students at Heritage Immersion. A big thank you to Maplewood Golf Course for donating eight golf passes for students and health practitioners, to the Schreimer Family for tours of their greenhouses, to the St Pierre Museum for tours and maple syrup gifts and to the St Pierre Pharmacy for a cash donation. Students were truly appreciative!

From the Lab
A Hematology analyzer is being installed to give CBC results (a complete blood count). A Medical Laboratory Technologist position was created due to the high volume of phlebotomies being performed. Currently, only hemoglobin and WBC are provided with a small point of care instrument. Volunteer drivers are still required during the day, Monday to Friday, as lab does not have a chemistry analyzer, and evenings and weekends when there are no lab staff. Samples are taken to Bethesda for processing. Regional Resource Charge Technologist
About Job Applications
Intake is centralized online as paper; applications/resumes are no longer accepted. It is important however to apply if there is an opening for something you want now or could want in future. Union people have priority. If there are no applications for a required bilingual position, unilingual will be accepted.

More information to come for opportunities with patients and outdoors.
