What’s Happening?

July 2025

Dear Community Members,

We are delighted to bring you the 5th Edition of the Rat River Health Council 2008 Inc. (RRHC) ENewsletter. RRHC was established in 1994 by the community and for the community to pursue quality healthcare services. We proudly support and promote services provided by the De Salaberry District Health Centre, as well as those by private and non-profit organizations within the RM of De Salaberry, the Village of St-Pierre-Jolys and NOW the RM of Ritchot as well.

FROM THE ST PIERRE MEDICAL CLINIC

Recruitment efforts are continuing to replace the 0.4 physician position, as Dr. Gosselin has left the clinic. Dr. Gosselin will be the Physician for the Personal Care Home, freeing up the Nurse Practitioners, allowing them to see more patients in the clinic.

From the De Salaberry District Health Centre: Approval was recently received to have 3 new permanent 12-hour nurses, and for permanent unit clerk positions. 1 Undergraduate Nurse Employee has already been hired, 2 more will start in June.

Monthly Meeting Highlights

WELCOME RM OF RITCHOT

It`s official! The RM of Ritchot is now a member of the Rat River Health Council. The three municipalities will now be asking their Chambers of Commerce, their School Divisions, their Métis Locals, their Recreation Commissions and their Seniors Services and Residences for ‘health representatives’. One representative of each of these will be selected to be a Board Member. A voice from all these sectors is important for a holistic approach to health. If you are interested, contact the organization you are a member of, or the municipality you reside in. Let’s do health care differently together!

AND….  If you saw police cars parked next to École Héritage Immersion in St. Pierre recently, no worries. They were participating in the school`s fundraiser for Cancer Care Manitoba. Thank you to event organizers and participants! For more information go to: https://www.steinbachonline.com/articles/st-pierre-students-kick-cancer-to-the-curb-with-annual-fundraiser

Did You Know?

This on-line directory of health and wellness services we’ve created will soon be including the services in the RM of Ritchot. The goal is to provide easy access to services that are often unknown or not recognized as part of the system that helps to keep us healthy. GO TO https://service.ratriverhealth.ca/

We are looking at how we can integrate our Health Services Directory into Manitoba 211, with the help of Mikayla of the Bilingual Services Centre.
