May 2025
We are delighted to bring you the 4th Edition of the Rat River Health Council 2008 Inc. (RRHC) ENewsletter. As you may know, RRHC was established in 1994 by the community and for the community to pursue quality healthcare services.
We proudly support and promote services provided by the De Salaberry District Health Centre, as well as those by private and non-profit organizations within the RM of De Salaberry and the Village of St-Pierre-Jolys.
FROM THE ST PIERRE MEDICAL CLINIC
From Dr. Timothy Gosselin: “It is with mixed feelings that I advise of my departure from primary care practice.
I have recently accepted a position as Associate Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) for Southern Health-Santé Sud (SHSS). This is a role more focused on being a doctor for the medical system, or for doctor supervision. I still look forward to helping make the health system work better for you, for increased transparency and accountability. I hope to stay on in ER one day per week here.”
We thank Dr. Gosselin for the time he had with us and we wish him luck in his new position.
An important piece of Emergency Room equipment was purchased thanks to a grant from the Village Connection. The “LUCAS” (Lund University Cardiopulmonary Assist System) provides mechanical chest compressions to patients in cardiac arrest. THANK YOU VILLAGE CONNECTION!
New nurses have also recently been hired! Great news for our communities!!!

Community Engagement
Members of our RRHC08 met with representatives of Carman Wellness Connections. Southern Health`s CAO had pointed us in that direction as she felt we had many things in common. It was a great meeting as we shared visions and accomplishments. We hope to meet again soon to see how we can learn from each other.
Did You Know?
With the help of a Healthy Living grant from Southern Health RHA we have created an on-line directory of health and wellness services located in the RM of De Salaberry and the Village of St-Pierre-Jolys. The goal is to provide easy access to services that are often unknown or not recognized as part of the system that helps to keep us healthy. GO TO https://service.ratriverhealth.ca/

The Prairie Alchemist is a special place in the Beach House St. Malo. “This cafe was built with a passion for creating a welcoming space where we can all gather, connect, and nourish our bodies and souls.”
Socializing is very important for our mental health and places like these provide the opportunity to get together.

Community Updates – News and Opportunities
With the assistance of a small grant, we organized a Watch Party on May 8th in the Health Corner. The Share & Learn put on by Southern Health had a keynote speaker and several presentations from Communities Making a Difference. 17 participants representing local organizations and health care professionals networked over food and beverages. It was a great opportunity that we all hope can be repeated next year! Thanks to all the participants!
